Jimbo Jones recently described the growing conflict between President Trump
and black NFL players who kneeling during the national anthem. I support
the players of free speech rights to kneel, but I want that they do not
because they are a bad example for young African Americans by promoting a
victim mentality.
This is particularly disappointing because these players are real stories
of success and should serve as positive role models for young black kids.
These players have found their talent, worked hard, and now legally earn a
lot of money in the current socio-economic system of the United States.
Lives Dark matter, as long as they are killed by whites
The kneeling NFL players are part of life black protest movement wider
material which campaigns against anti-black racism, especially shots of
African Americans of police. Opposing innocent blacks shot by police is
very good; none of us want to see an innocent person being shot each.
The problem with black lives is that their story is distorted. They do not
focus on all the black on black shootings which account for 90% + of blacks
slaughtered. black neighborhoods in Chicago and other cities are not
dangerous because the police roll through everyone shooting. They are
dangerous because every night black gangsters shoot other black gangsters
and other unfortunate enough to have their way.
The photographed Blacks is a massive problem in the black community. If
African Americans are really worried about the safety of their son, they
should focus on ending gang violence in their communities, but Black Lives
Matters chooses to use scarce police shootings as an excuse to promote a
radical narrative that the United States is a fundamentally racist nation
in which African Americans are not given the chance to live a peaceful and
successful life. So they are promoting a mentality of the victim.
According to figures from the FBI, blacks (90%) and whites (82%) are mostly
killed by their own race. But many more whites are killed by blacks (15%)
than blacks killed by whites (8%). White lives matter too.
Victimhood is demeaning
Even if you really are a victim, having a victim mentality is useless
because it is paralyzing. A person with a victim mentality is sitting
around feeling sorry for themselves and rejects all the positive actions
they can take to improve their situation as "unnecessary" or "too hard."
Yes, racism against blacks still exists in the United States. Yes, a
disproportionate number of black children are disadvantaged, but the answer
to these problems we do not reject the company and choose the easy but
ultimately disastrous options such as crime and drug use.
The answer is to take individual responsibility and positive action for you
and your family. Find your talent, work hard and follow the rules of the
system. If the system is really against you use that for motivation and
work twice as hard to spite the system. Most people in the third world
would kill to have the opportunities that disadvantaged African-Americans.
The fact that black NFL players are promoting a victim mentality is so
disappointing because they obviously have not lived with a victim mentality
in their own lives. When the time has come to try to youth football did
they stay home because they were worried the coach could be racist? When
the trainer pushed them to a representative in the gym did they quit
because it was unfair? When they lost a game they blame the referees, they
say was rigged system, then leaving to pursue a life of crime? No, no and
no.
Conclusion
Most black children will not become millionaire athletes. No more than the
whitest kids. But the features that have made black NFL players with
success - hard work, resilience, teamwork, determination - are useful to
everyone everywhere. These players should spend less energy undermining the
system that pays millions of dollars, think about what makes them
successful in their lives, and to encourage other African Americans to
follow their example. It is time for these players to stand up and be
models.
