He Boy Scouts of America said Wednesday it will admit girls in Cubs next
year and establish a new program for girls using the same program of the
organization.
In the historical movement, dens Cubs - the smallest unit - will be unisex
or all boys or all girls. Cub Scout packs, which are larger and include a
number of hideouts, will be able to accommodate both sexes if they choose.
Boy Scouts of Board of Directors voted unanimously to change Wednesday.

"This decision is faithful to the mission of BSA and core values outlined
in the Scout Oath and Law. Scouting's values - trust, loyal, helpful,
kind, brave and respectful, for example - are important to young men and
women, "Michael Surbaugh, group managing director, said in a statement.
He added that "we believe it is essential to change the way our programs
meet the needs of families interested in positive experiences and life for
their children. We strive to provide what our organization does best -
character development and leadership for young people - as many families
and young people as possible that help us shape the next generation of
leaders ".
The program for girls to begin in 2019 and will allow girls to win the
coveted rank of Eagle Scout.
In a statement, the group said that after "years of receiving requests from
families and girls," it "evaluated the results of extensive research" and
came to his decision.
The Girl Scouts of America, which is separate and independent of the Boy
Scouts, was the alternative primary screening for the girls, and claims a
membership of 1.8 million.
Recently, the Boy Scouts announced that it will allow transgender children
that identify the boys to enroll in its programs exclusively boys.
