"Model" Lets Boyfriend a month Tattoos His eyeball, can become blind

Via Vice:
It's been four weeks since Catt Gallinger said her ex-boyfriend of sloppy
procedure and she still does not know how much the damage is.
Even when Catt Gallinger eye started leaking purple ink it n t think
anything was wrong.
No, actually, she thought it was fine. The model, 24, said she didn t
matter because her ex boyfriend who injected violet dye in the sclera
(white part) of his left eye told her that it was normal. He also said he
is not strange to the eye to swell to a massive size. It was only when the
man suddenly broke with Gallinger and asked other experts if all went well
she realized swelling and loss of vision wasn t normal at all.
And now, four weeks after receiving the body modification procedure done,
Gallinger doesn know if she'll ever regain full sight in that eye again.

Gallinger is no stranger to body changes, it features a split tongue and
many, many tattoos - body modifications are part of who I am, she said
VICE. Gallinger said body modification was done by her boyfriend who then
swore he had done this kind of work before with success. She says he pushed
repeatedly to allow him to do the procedures.
The artist, my ex-boyfriend just kept pushing myself until I had done that
night, Gallinger said VICE. We were only together for a month but I know
him for years. It was something I thought I could trust him because he had
a wallet. I was wrong & # 8221.
So one night she relented, she and then boyfriend numb his eye and inject
purple ink in it. Gallinger, alongside experts say the procedure is
supposed to be done two or three days with a small needle and a mixture of
saline and a small amount of ink. When the saline solution evaporates from
the eye then it will stain the scleral. While her ex-boyfriend did numb the
eye, which was about the only thing he is right.
It does not dilute the ink with a saline solution, just put pure ink in my
eye, he used a very big hand and went too deep, Gallinger said. He made two
injections, one on top and one on the bottom. It took only about ten
minutes and # 8221.
The swelling and the pain was immediate, but her ex-boyfriend, she was
living with at the time, told her that it was normal. She went to the
hospital, but because the procedure is at the cutting edge of body
modification, they don t know anything was wrong either. Gallinger received
drugs against pain, steroid drops for her eyes and told her ice.
From nowhere, while the eye was still swollen, Gallinger boyfriend break up
with her and gave her no reason, she believes now s because he knew he
botched the procedure and didn & # 8217; t want to admit & # 8221. Upon his
return to his hometown, Gallinger asked for a second opinion, something she
readily admits she should have done immediately. At this point, it was
weeks later and his eye was still swollen, filled with ink and she knew the
pain and loss of sight.
& # 8217 that while I found out how wrong the procedure was gone, she said
VICE.
Recently, Gallinger social media to tell his story, his messages have been
shared thousands of times, saying that people should look for people doing
body modification. Answering a question on his Facebook page, Gallinger
said she plans to take legal action.
In the near future, Gallinger meet the view of the experts on how to move
forward to remove excess ink stuck in his eye. Next week it will be in
surgery, and the outlook is positive, but nobody really knows what can or
will happen because it is a rare case.
The pain is like a constant cramp. It depends on the day, at the time, the
pain may increase or decrease, she said. Sightwise I got some of my rear
view, it's the point where I need glasses & # 8221.
It's a waiting game while at this point, we're learning as we go. If the
ink solidifies, it's supposed to last three months, it becomes more
difficult to remove and can seriously impact your vision. If it moves back
to the eye were the retina, it can cause nerve damage & # 8221.
The Gallinger said she effects on experienced significant mental health
because of its location and the game she received by going public with what
happened. Gallinger said VICE she doesn t want to leave her house, she of
losing weight at a rapid pace, quit modeling, and suffers from severe
depression.
There is a lot of fear, said Gallinger. I m living with my mother now
because I can t live alone with all that is happening. Depression hit very
serious, frightening moments when I had to wake people up to the middle of
the night because I was afraid of what might happen and # 8221.
I hit a point where I had to quit modeling because I can t look in the
mirror, let alone go to get photos made by people. It is very difficult to
be sure when your body's been damaged & # 8221.
